The drum teeth of the drum gear coupling is actually to make the outer teeth into a sphere, and then the center of the sphere needs to be placed on the axis of the gear, and the side clearance of the teeth is larger than that of the general gear. Drum-toothed couplings allow greater angular displacement than straight-toothed couplings. And make the tooth contact conditions to improve, so that the ability to transfer torque has been improved, prolong the service life of the coupling.

The clearance of the drum gear coupling directly affects the service life, the clearance of the circumference and the hole, according to the standard to have the corresponding size, but also the degree of accuracy; Connecting piece and coupling clearance, its cooperation will not only affect the product damage life, but also bring the transmission performance of the whole equipment, rigid coupling will also cause noise. Good lubrication can effectively reduce wear if the drum coupling is guaranteed to work reliably.

Most of the drum gear coupling is to use lubricating oil for lubrication, now because the lubricating oil is required to be filtered through a high-precision oil filter, filtration degree is less than 10 microns, the tooth surface requires continuous lubrication, otherwise the tooth surface temperature will rise and will accumulate water and dirt, some drum gear coupling sometimes also use the structure of the oil collecting slot hole, that is, the processing of the oil collecting groove in the outer gear shaft hole, The oil hole connected with the oil collecting groove is drilled out at the bottom of the outer gear tooth groove. In order to make it fully lubricated, the oil is injected into the meshing place of the inner and outer teeth by the centrifugal force generated by the high-speed operation of the drum gear coupling.
