Serpentine spring couplings mechanical properties
The main structure of the
serpentine spring coupling developed and manufactured by most transmission parts manufacturers is composed of two half couplings and two half covers, two sealing rings and a serpentine spring. The coupling drive check is sent by a snake spring embedded in the time slot of the two half couplings, and the coupling is inserted into the slot of the two half couplings by a snake spring to achieve the connection between the drive shaft and the driven shaft.

The mechanical properties of the
snake spring coupling are as follows:
1. The proportion of the coupling embedded in the two halves of the axis of the snake spring plate is more than 36%. The trapezoidal section of the snake spring is made of high-quality spring steel, subjected to strict heat treatment and special treatment, and has good mechanical properties, so that the service life of the connector is much larger than the non-metallic elastic component coupling.
2. The tooth surface of the two half couplings in contact with the spring is curved. As the transfer torque increases, the spring will deform along the tooth surface so that the force points of the two half couplings acting on the spring are close together. The contact point between the spring and the tooth surface, that is, the change of torque, varies with the size of the transmitted torque, and its transmission characteristic is variable stiffness. Therefore, it can withstand greater load variation than ordinary elastic coupling. The transmission force makes the cushioning effect generated when the spring deforms along the tooth arc, especially when the machine is started, or when the impact load is strong, to the corresponding extent, the safety protection of the support mechanism.
3. The aluminum alloy cover protects the spring when running, and the housing is filled with cream, which not only makes good lubrication, but also eliminates noise when the spring is engaged by the damping of butter.

6. Because the spring plate is in contact with the surface point of the belt tooth arc, the coupling can obtain greater flexibility. It can be mounted to work properly under radial, angular and axial deviations.

During the operation of the
snake spring coupling, we will find that the tooth surface of the active end will drive the axial force of the snake spring and the torque will be transferred by the driving end, thus avoiding resonance phenomenon and elastic variable generated by the spring when transferring torque to a large extent.
