Coupling removal and assembly

There are many kinds of coupling, the structure is different, and the disassembly process of the coupling is not the same. In this paper, some problems need to be paid attention to in the disassembly work of the coupling are introduced.

When disassembly of coupling is opposite to assembly type:
Disassembly is the opposite of assembly. The purpose of the two is different. The assembly process is to assemble the coupling according to the assembly requirements, so that the coupling can transfer torque safely and reliably. Disassembly is generally due to the failure of the equipment or the maintenance of the coupling itself, the coupling is disassembled into parts. The degree of disassembly is generally determined according to the maintenance requirements, some only require the connection of the two shafts off, some not only to the joint shaft of its full decomposition, but also to take the hub off the shaft. There are many kinds of coupling, the structure is different, and the disassembly process of the coupling is not the same. In this paper, some problems need to be paid attention to in the disassembly work of the coupling are introduced.


Matters needing attention in the removal of coupling:

Because the coupling gear and vibration shaft are tightly connected (interference fit), and the space in the flange is small, it is difficult to remove the coupling gear. Therefore, we designed a special disassembly tool, which is simple, convenient and practical. The failure of the coupling itself and the need to remove, first of all to do a careful inspection of the coupling as a whole (especially for the coupling has been damaged), should identify the cause of the failure.

In the process of coupling removal:
Before the coupling is disassembled, some marks should be made on the position of the coupling parts to cooperate with each other for reference when reassembling. For couplings used in high speed machines, the coupling bolts must be weighed and marked clearly.
The coupling bolt is usually removed before removing the coupling. Due to a layer of oil scale, corrosion products and other sediments deposited on the surface of the thread, it is not easy to remove the bolt, especially for the serious corrosion of the bolt, disassembly is very difficult. Proper tools must be selected for the removal of the connecting bolt, because the force surface of the outer or inner hexagon of the bolt has slipped and damaged, making it more difficult to remove. For the bolts that have been corroded or greasy, often use solvent (such as rust loosening agent) to spray the connection between the bolt and the nut, so that the solvent can penetrate into the thread, so that it will be easy to remove.
In the coupling removal process, the most difficult job is to remove the hub from the shaft. For the hub of the key connection, the general use of three-legged or four-legged pull to remove. The selected pull should match the size of the wheel hub, and the right Angle hook of each pull foot should be properly combined with the rear side of the wheel hub, so as not to produce slippage imagination when using force. This method is only used for the removal of the wheel with small interference ratio. For the wheel with large interference ratio, heating method is often used, or at the same time with the hydraulic jack for removal.
Cleaning, cleaning and quality evaluation of all parts of coupling is a very important work after coupling disassembly. The evaluation of parts refers to the comparison of the existing condition of size, shape and material properties of each part with the quality standard determined by the design of parts after operation to determine which parts can continue to be used, which parts should be repaired and used, and which parts should be scrapped and renewed.
