Structure and service characteristics of diaphragm couplings

Diaphragm coupling structure:
A diaphragm coupling consists of at least one diaphragm and two bushings. The diaphragm is fastened to the bushing with a pin generally without loosening or allowing recoil between the diaphragm and the bushing. Some manufacturers supply two or three diaphragms with one or perhaps two rigid elements attached to the bushing.

Characteristics of diaphragm coupling:
This property of diaphragm couplings is somewhat similar to that of bellows couplings, in fact they all transmit torque in a similar way. The diaphragm itself is thin, so it bends easily when a relative displacement load is applied, and thus can withstand up to 1.5 degrees of deviation while producing a low bearing load in the servo system.
Diaphragm couplings are often used in servo systems. Diaphragms have good torque rigidity, but are less rigid than bellows couplings.
Diaphragm couplings are very delicate and can be easily damaged if misused or improperly installed. So it is very necessary to ensure the deviation in the normal operation of the coupling within the bearing range.

Diaphragm coupling according to the shaft diameter placement model:
The preliminary selection of bearing coupling connection size, namely shaft hole diameter d and shaft hole length L, should meet the requirements of the main and driven end shaft diameter, otherwise it should also be arranged according to the specifications of shaft diameter d. It is normal that the main and driven end axle diameters are not the same. When the torque and speed are the same, the main and driven end axle diameters are not the same, the coupling model should be selected according to the big axle diameters. In the newly designed transmission system, seven shaft hole types stipulated in GBT3852 should be selected, and J1 shaft hole type should be recommended to improve universality and interchangeability. The shaft hole length should be in accordance with the provisions of the bearing coupling qualification standard.
