Selection and use of high speed couplings

Introduction:
Coupling is widely used in the field of mechanical transmission, broadly speaking, all transmission power accessories can be called coupling, including clutch, hydraulic coupler, gear box, elastic coupling and so on, now we general mechanical industry said coupling is mainly in a narrow sense of the coupling, namely elastic coupling, rigid coupling, semi-rigid coupling general term, After the industry classification more refined also appeared, metal component coupling (such as flexible coupling, bellows coupling, etc.) and non-metal component coupling (such as pin coupling, high elastic coupling, etc.).

Our analysis today mainly focuses on the selection and use of high-speed couplings.

First of all, the definition of high speed. Strictly speaking, when the coupling speed reaches 750r/min-1, it has met the requirement of low and high speed, and dynamic balancing test should be provided. In actual use, it is generally accepted that the coupling speed reaches 1500r/min-1 or above, and dynamic balancing test should be provided to ensure the normal use of the coupling. With the increase of speed, dynamic balance grade requirements are also higher and higher, and dynamic balance is not omnipotent, if the machining accuracy can not reach the initial requirements of dynamic balance, concentric can not meet the requirements, quality deviation is too large, may lead to dynamic balance experiment can not be carried out, or can not reach the required balance accuracy, this involves more technical knowledge, not to be investigated in detail here, ----- High speed depends on machining accuracy and dynamic balance adjustment level.

High speed, from the speed can be divided into several levels:

Low high speed 1500-6000

Medium to high speed 6000-10000

High speed speed more than 10000

To sum up:
A large number of coupling speed ranges are within or below low and high speed, and the high-speed coupling we discuss today is mainly high speed, based on our current contact cases, mainly applied to the test bench, dynamometer and high-speed operation of power source output torque.
